Hawaiian Vacation

Some of the Wagners rendezvoused on Oahu in June, and here are some of the pictures to document our holiday:

We saw the first annual dragon boat races at Ala Moana Park. The flag
catcher leans out over the dragon's nose to take the flag at the
finish. Three boats race at once in a paddling drag race.

Here they are at the finish of the third heat. The nearest one is grabbing
its flag.

Andrea and Tommy have fun in the water at Sans Souci Beach in Waikiki.

Tommy likes using the face mask.

Tommy, Becky, Andrea, and Malia stop to eat shave ice at the Queen's Surf
Beach in Waikiki.

The Royal Hawaiian Hotel (the pink structure) is in the background of the
wahine surf at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki.

I visited with University of Hawaii professor Ron Knapp at his office in Aiea.

Artist Claude Horan invited us to go sailing in Kaneohe Bay. Horan is one of
the first artists to use a computer in his work.

After sailing on Horan's catamaran, Horanamoku with Gusto, we ate a
wonderful dinner at Horan and Suzi's house. That's Suzi, Malia, Becky, Horan, and Andrea.

The famous Blow Hole doing its thing just beyond Hanauma Bay.

Tommy strains to see Molokai on the horizon at the Blow Hole.

Tommy, Andrea, and Becky make leis for our dinner guests.

Walter and Linda Wagner in the bar of the Kaimana Hotel at Sans Souci Beach in Waikiki.
I had just come up from the beach when I took this picture, still wet in my swimming
trunks.

John Wagner at our dinner party in Aina Haina, with sister Lisa and cousin Tommy.

Pat Wagner at our soiree.

Christina Wagner came for dinner too. We all had a wonderful time.

This is the sushi plate that Christina brought to the party. Yum yum.

We visited with Horan and Suzi a second time and motor cruised on the bay to fish and watch green
sea turtles. We beached the boat had a picnic. Later we anchored on a reef while Suzi went hunting
octopus.

I flew back to Hawaii on July 5 and took some more pictures.
