Wilson Elementary School Tour

Andrea and I went to the Manoa Heritage Center to help with a fourth grade tour on Thursday, November 5th.

The keiki greeted us at the front door of the MHC office with an oli (chant).

Andrea took one third of the keiki for her portion of the tour.

We carried umbrellas and used them in the waa (canoe) garden.

The students as a group gave an offering and an oli at the kukaoo heiau.

After the tour Margo led instruction in leaf rubbing art. All the keiki had fun.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony

Andrea and I remained at the Manoa Heritage Center to help with the noontime groundbreaking ceremony.

After helping with car parking at Kualii, I went down to the ceremony on the lower lot.

It had rained so the tent came in handy, but it cleared for the event itself.

Aloha gives the opening remarks and greeting.

Curtis, our kahu, addresses the gathering.

The gathering are invited forward to witness the blessing and groundbreaking.

The lau kukui lei we helped Bill with is atop ti-covered posts.
