December Show 2022


The club members set up the tables at the Koko Head Elementary School cafeteria on Friday evening. Some members brought plants for sale.


We arrived Saturday morning before 7:00 AM and put up the banner on the school fence. Koko Head is in the background.


This was my display, a hibiscus and a Harry Hirao suiseki. Click the image to see the full resolution version.


We are all set up before 9:00 opening time.

Keith and I got together on a plan for mutual introductions. Keith began doing bonsai in the 1970s. In 1980 he took instruction from
Mr. Miyagi in Okinawa. He retired in 1998 and received instruction from Kenji Miyata and Ed Nakamishi. Later he established the Bonsai
Foundation Clinic. He's a member of most of the bonsai clubs on Oahu and has been Show Chair and President of the Hawaii Bonsai

A large audience attended Keith's demonstration on a Japanese black pine.


I was the MC and conducted an auction for Keith's black pine. It fetched $350. Photo by Andrea.

Taylor had brought some very nice pots designed for bonsai. Unfortunately they were priced too high and not one sold.
