Visit by Christian and Family

Sans Souci Beach

Andrea and I went to the beach for a swim in the morning on Monday, August 1, the day that Christian and family arrived.

Rocky the monk seal and her pup were in the middle of the beach today.

After swimming I went to the arbor bars at the Natatorium to do pullups. Click the image to see the full size version.

On the way back I saw the seals entering the water.

Christian and his wife and kids arrived at the Sheraton in Waikiki.

Andrea and I went to the Kahala Hotel for a meeting with the Maile Room fundraiser planning committee.

Barbecued Lamb Dinner

Andrea and I invited Christian and his family over for dinner on Tuesday, August 2.

The weather was nice and we ate outdoors under the lychee tree.

Susan took this one with her phone, propped on the ceramic sculpture, on a timer.

Snorkeling with the Turtles

Christian invited me to go on the Island Dive (Hawaii Kai) turtle barge adventure on Wednesday morning, August 3. Andrea was invited too but she chose to stay home and get some things done.

We arrived early and took a look at the boats at the dock.

Waiting onboard for departure.

Heading out the channel past Portlock.

We were moored off Kuli'ou'ou. Saw lots of big turtles on the bottom and surface.

Photo by a fellow boat passenger on Christian's phone.

Christian sent me this video of snorkeling with the turtles he put together later.

Susan made a video while we harvested some bananas, posted on Facebook.

Christian went SCUBA diving on Thursday morning and later he sent me this video he put together.

Thursday afternoon I photographed our Herb Kane painting of a wa'a lua.

Andrea took this photo of a maiapilo flower in our front yard on Thursday evening.

Morning Outing

Friday morning, August 5, I met Christian and family at the Waikiki Aquarium for an outing.

We walked over to Sans Souci Beach to see the monk seal. A Hawaiian protestor with a flag was there, yelling.

There were several policemen there.

At the aquarium two nice young women volunteers took our group photos on the green screen.

Shakas, everyone!

Porpoises, oh my.

We went into the aquarium exhibits to look at the fish.

Nick watched the sharks.

We stopped at Diamond Head, the Lanai lookout and at the Makapu'u lookout.

We went boogie boarding at Bellows.

We stopped for lunch at Zippy's on the way back.

Paella Dinner

Christian and family came over again for dinner on Saturday afternoon, August 6. Andrea made a seafood paella.

Andrea showed Nick how to make lauhala bracelets.

Ash made a red bracelet.

The chess lesson.

Lizard.

Nick holds a buffo toad that was caught by that person.
