October 2019 Chess Game

The game shown here was played against my chess applet, the Homeostatic Chess Player, a computer program I wrote in the first year of this century.

English Opening

I played white, minimal look ahead is six tempi. October 23-24.

	White	Black
1.	c4	Nc6
2.	Nc3	e6
3.	Nf3	a5 a5 is often played after white's a3, but here it's premature.
4.	d4	Ra7 Black is wasting time.
5.	e4	Be7

Position after move 5.
6.	Bd3	Nb4 Nb4 is useless and wastes more time.
7.	Be2	Ra8 More time wasting by black!
8.	a3	Na6
9.	O-O	c6
10.	Re1	d6 White has established a strong center and there's very little to be done about it.

Position after move 10.
11.	Bf4	Nf6
12.	h3	O-O
13.	Qc2	Nh5
14.	Bh2	Kh8
15.	Ra1d1	Qb6 Black really hasn't much better than this rather useless queen move.

Position after move 15.
16.	d5	c6xd5 White begins to open lines for attack.
17.	e4xd5	Bd7 Black is still developing.
18.	Bd3	g6 Black parries the threat to take the king's rook pawn but at a cost of weakening the black squares in front of the king.
19.	Qd2	e5 White prepares to take advantage of the weak squares on the king side while black locks the center.
20.	Qh6	Qxb2 White sacrifices a pawn to get a solid grip on the king side.

Position after move 20.
21.	Ne4	Qxa3 White brings another piece to bear while black foolishly accepts the second pawn.
22.	Ne4g5	Nf6 Black doesn't see the next sacrifice coming.
23.	Nxe5	dxe5 No good moves are left for black. Checkmate is coming.
24.	Bxe5 Black resigns

Position after move 24.
