The games shown here were played against my chess applet, the Homeostatic Chess Player, a computer program I wrote in the first year of this century.

Sicilian Defense

Homeostatic Chess Player vs. Rick on Intel CORE i7 Dell Inspiron laptop, May 3-4, 2018. Minimal look-ahead set to six tempi. The computer is playing white. This was a hard fought game with mistakes on both sides.

1.	e4	c5           Black opts for the Sicilian.
2.	Bc4	Nc6
3.	Nf3	e6           The pawn on e6 neutralizes white's bishop on c4.
4.	d3	Qc7          White chooses a closed variation with his d3.
5.	Na3	a6           White's knight is misplaced on a3. Could he be planning c3 followed by Nc2?

6.	Bd2	Nf6
7.	Ke2?	d5           Not white's best move. Castling was indicated.
8.	exd5	exd5         Emphasizing white's misplaced knight, white must accept the open king file.
9.	Bb3	Bd6

10.	Kf1?	O-O          Kf1 makes sense only after the Re1.
11.	c4	d4           Black locks the pawn structure and makes rentry of white's queen's knight to the game more difficult.

15.	Rg1	Qc6?         Black's queen move allow's white's next, letting white off the hook, and losing material for black.

17.	g4	Nxg4?        Black makes an ill-advised "sacrifice." Black loses material in any case.
18.	hxg4	Bg6
19.	f4	Bc7          Down a piece, black will lose another.
20.	f5	Bh2          Faced with loss of another piece, black delays and squirms.

25.	fxg6	fxg6         Black's bishop finally falls. Black is now down two pieces, but white's king is exposed.

30.	Qd1	Bh2+         This is called "pulling your chestnuts out of the fire."

Sicilian Defense

Homeostatic Chess Player vs. Rick on Intel CORE i7 Dell Inspiron laptop, May 16-18, 2018. Minimal look-ahead set to six tempi. The computer is playing white. This game is an instructive draw. Black sacrifices a pawn for attacking chances that don't pan out.
