December 2017 Chess Games

Games shown here were played against my chess applet, the Homeostatic Chess Player, a computer program I wrote in the first year of this century.

Queen Pawn Opening

Rick vs. Homeostatic Chess Player on Intel CORE i7 Dell Inspiron laptop, December 7-8, 2017. Minimal look-ahead set to six tempi. The computer is playing black.

	White	Black
1.	Nf3	d5
2.	d4	Nc6
3.	Bf4	Nf6
4.	h3	Nh5 White makes a hidey hole for his bishop.
5.	Bh2	e6

Position after move 5.

6.	c4?	Bb4+ c4 by white was probably a mistake.
7.	Nc3	dxc4 Black accepts the free pawn.
8.	e3	b5
9.	a3	Ba5 b3 may be better for white.
10.	b4	cxb3

Position after move 10.

11.	Qxb3	a6 White is a pawn down without any real compensation.
12.	Bd3	Bb7
13.	O-O	Na7
14.	Ne5	Kf8? Black's king move is a fatal mistake.
15.	Rf1c1	f6

Position after move 15.

16.	Ng4	e5
17.	Ne2	e4
18.	Bb1	f5
19.	Ne5	Bd5
20.	Qc2	Bb6 White has been pushed into a box, but black's bishop move to b6 is unnecesary.

Position after move 20.

21.	Nc3	Ba5? Black needs to keep the bishop on d5.
22.	Nxd5	Qxd5
23.	Ba2	Qb7 Now white strikes back!
24.	Qc5+	Ke8
25.	Bf7+	Kd8

Position after move 25.

26.	Bxh5	Rg8
27.	Bf7	Re8
28.	Bd5	Rxe5
29.	Bxe5	c6
30.	Qf8+	Kd7

Position after move 30.

31.	Qxg7+	Kd8
32.	Qxb7	Nc8
33.	Qxa8	cxd5
34.	Qxd5+	Ke8
35.	Rxc8+	Ke7
36.	Qd6+ Black resigns

Final position.
