Back in April I described my synergistic goals for the Torrance Democratic Club (TDC):
So far we are on track with our goals. Our club membership is steadily increasing, and we now have seven times as many precincts covered with Precinct Captains (an increase from one to seven).
A number of members have signed on to the Debbie Cook and Barack Obama campaigns, so we are also well on our to achieving our third goal. I want to continue emphasis in these areas, as well as to continue to provide club members with a valuable forum to hear from candidates and other speakers on important issues.
We had a great time at the house party fundraiser last month and plan another gathering at Treasurer Al Shadbourne’s house on August 30. Be sure to see the flyer for details. Also in work is an interesting wine tasting fundraiser, planned by Vice President Jill Gilligan at the South End Racquet Club, to be announced.
The 53rd AD (our (and Ted Lieu’s) Assembly District) Congress is setting up a Democratic Action Center (DAC) in old town Torrance as a counterpoise to the Republican State Headquarters here. If our fundraising efforts are successful, I am hoping the TDC can contribute monetarily to the DAC.
