The novella, Planet of Love, is the sequel to the novel, Love Beyond Orbit. Software engineer Edward and his robotic friend and valet, Brent, were on holiday in Hawaiʻi, where, by chance they met Edward's friend Cindy who was on an undercover assignment tracking down artifact thieves. Edward and Cindy realized they were in love and committed to getting married. Brent and Edward returned from Hawaiʻi in a ballistic passenger rocket. Cindy returned to London from Hawaiʻi as well, having promised her boss she would do one more assignment before getting married.
Edward is lonely waiting for Cindy to finish her detective work and Brent does his best to keep him busy with distractions including outings and philosophical discussions. Brent and Edward's lawyer friend Victoria, who lives across the road, purchases a robot maid, Paula, and Brent is love-struck. Edward gives Brent advice on wooing Paula, and it seems to work. Edward is sent by his software company to a robotics conference coincidentally in the same city as Cindy's undercover assignment to infiltrate the Humans First movement regional headquarters.
While undercover, Cindy's boss at regional headquarters sends her to infiltrate the robotics conference to look for evidence of programming robots for deception. Cindy and Edward meet in the conference hotel and Cindy is able to keep Edward from blowing her cover. Edward returns home and Cindy's boss (while she is undercover) discovers her deception and imprisons her while waiting for word of her disposition from solar system headquarters on Mars. Cindy uses her ingenuity and escapes. Brent and Edward fly to her and bring her to their house. Cindy tells her real boss in London that she quits and will be getting married right away. The story ends with Cindy and Edward embracing on their wedding day.
