2016 Team Magma Build Season

The Kalani High School Team Magma is FRC 3008.

FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff

Team 368 once again hosted the FRC Kickoff at McKinley High School on Saturday, January 9th.


We arrived at 4:45 AM and went inside to wait for the broadcast video.

At 3:00 PM we went to Kalani High School to meet with the students to continue brainstorming the game strategy and robot design.

FRC Build Season Week One

Students began meeting daily from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturdays.


Good progress was in evidence on Wednesday, January 13th. Here, the test bed electronics are being assembled.


Field element mockups are in work.


The CAD model is coming along.

FRC Build Season Week Two

I continued support to the Kalani High School robotics team.


I helped with shooter wheel speed calculations. Monday, January 18th.


The students have a daily team status meeting at 5:00 PM. Thursday, January 21st.

FRC Build Season Week Three

I went to check on the team on Wednesday night, January 27th.


Daily status meeting.


I received my mentor's certificate of appreciation in the mail.


I went to the robotics lab on Saturday afternoon, January 30th. The robot frame has been welded.


Working on the shooter prototype, getting it to work better with larger shooter wheels.

Kalani Robotics Build Season Week Four

We continued supporting the robotics team and on Friday evening, February 5th, I went to the robotics lab to check on progress.

Kalani Robotics Build Season Week Five

I went to check on the team on Wednesday evening, February 10th.


Sarah practiced her violin in the machine shop before the meeting started as Wayland and Dylan look on.

Kalani Robotics Build Season Week Six

In the final week of build season for FRC, I checked in with the team Wednesday evening, February 17th.


After their "I'm excited" cheer the students had their daily status meeting.

Kalani Robotics Fundraiser at Gordon Biersch

Andrea and I met Paul and Faye at the robotics team fundraiser Sunday evening, February 21st.


We arrived just as Carl Young was taking the group photo.

We had pupus and drinks with Paul and Faye.

Robot Shipping Preparations

I went to the robotics lab Monday evening, February 22nd, the day before the bag and tag (stop work) deadline.
