Beach Cities Robotics 2010 FLL Season

Beach Cities Robotics is in its third year of FIRST Lego League (FLL), for students 9 to 14 years of age. It's a great way to get students prepared for the high school team.

We enter the winter of 2010 finishing up the 2009 FLL challenge, "Smart Move," a transportation theme. We had a great team and 2009 season and went to Legoland for the FLL Invitational Tournament on Saturday, February 6, 2010, the raniest day of the century.

Thumbs up, ready to go! George Chen is the referee facing the camera. George is a BCR
alumnus, graduating in 2004, the year we won the Chairman's Award at the LA FRC Regional
Competition. George put together our winning Chairman's Award Application. George is now a
college student and mentors a FRC team in San Diego. Photo courtesy of Wendy Fletcher.

Post-Season Events

We recruited new members for the post-season, leading into the summer. Coach Dr. John Davis created a new challenge to use sensing to find and retrieve balls on the field.

The team is growing!

Cole demonstrates his ball catcher mechanism to the team.

The two subteams, X and Y, hard at work!.

On Tuesday evening, May 24th the combined FRC and FLL teams went to the Redondo Beach School Board
meeting to demonstrate the FRC robot.
