San Pedro Art Walk

Andrea and I went to San Pedro on July first for the monthly "First Thursday Art Walk." We saw a number of studios and went into the Whale and Ale for dinner.

This is the downstairs of one of the studios on the art walk.

Andrea and I liked this arrangement of artificial flowers in the Whale and Ale.

We sat by the front window and Andrea took this photo of me in the Whale and Ale.

Suzy's Bar

On Monday, July 19^th we went to Suzy's on Aviation Boulevard in Hermosa Beach to listen to Becky's friend's Mike's band, the Pompous Highmen.

Andrea snapped this picture of me while we were waiting for the band to come.

The band begins to set up.

Mike has his drums set up.

The band is a trio: guitar, bass, and drums with the guitarist also singing.

The band begins to play. They sounded great. Reminds me a bit of early Grand Funk Railroad
(e.g. their first album, On Time), only much more jazzy.

They played a variety of songs, all original, except for their encore number, Green Eyed Lady.

They filled the place (with people and with music).

Mozart at Hollywood Bowl

Andrea, Elizabeth, and I were John Pierro's guests at the Mozart concert at Hollywood Bowl, performed by the LA Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by John McGegan. Thursday, July 22^nd, 2010.

We got there early enough to have a picnic dinner.
