Leaf Lead Acid Battery Overheating

Friday evening, January 23rd, Andrea noticed an odd smell in the carport. She unplugged the Leaf charger and I investigated and determined that the lead acid battery which operates the control system was overheated. I could see vapor coming out of it. I asked Andrea to back the car out of the carport, which she did. Then I asked her to call AAA.

The AAA guy was good. He diagnosed the problem as an old battery and replaced it for us right on the spot.

School Choice Day at the Bishop Museum

Andrea and I helped at the Mission Houses Museum table at the Bishop Museum on Sunday, January 25. It was predominantly private schools with tables informing the public about what they offer. I know little about "National School Choice Day" but it sounds like the Republican agenda to siphon public money out of public schools and into private schools. As such, I wasn't fully into it, but Andrea and I helped the Mission Houses Museum work the event.

We arrived early and I liked this view between the planetarium and Hawaiʻi Hall.

Waiting for the event to begin. Photo by Andrea.

There was a big crowd once we got going. Debbie (blue top) and Matt (not shown) also helped at our table.
