Bonsai Hawaiian Style

I continued working on my third book, Bonsai Hawaiian Style, taking some photos of subject trees after a short hiatus of three months.


I downloaded a nice Lunar New Year image from Facebook.


The Mayor of Torrance, Pat Furey, posted a nice graphic that I also downloaded from Facebook.

On Thursday, February 3rd, Andrea photographed work on the milo forest for my book. Here I'm putting some fine wet ciders over
the screens covering the pot drainage holes.

Environmental Hui Meeting

Andrea and I attended the environmental hui meeting on Monday, February 7, at 1:00 PM, via Zoom.

Aina Haina Prepared Monthly Board Meeting

I attended the AHP board meeting on Tuesday, February 8, at 7:00 PM, via Zoom.

Dinner at the Kahala Hotel Plumeria Beachhouse Restaurant

I couldn't get a reservation for Valentine's day so we went on Thursday, February 10, at 5:45 PM.


Our waitress was Shu Shu and I asked her to take our picture.


We had a great view of the sea and sky. Andrea ordered the prawns. I had the butterfish.


Andrea enjoyed watching the clouds.

Friday, February 11: Today I wrote over two thousand words for book four, the novel Brent and Edward Go to Mars. The book is now as long as the novela, twenty thousand words. Aiming for ninety thousand words.

Keawawa Wetlands

Saturday, February 12, Andrea went to help at the Keawawa Wetlands while I stayed home and mowed the lawn and worked on my novel. In the afternoon we drove to Waimanalo to visit the Zasadas in their rental cottage by the beach.

We met several new people at the dinner at the landlord's house: Archie, Pi'ilani, Rob, Jerry, Jeff, Marty, and Deborah. Also
attending were Susan and John, and of course, Paul and Faye.

Rainbow Bonsai Club Zoom Meeting

The club meeting was scheduled for 9:00 AM Sunday, the 13th, but only the President, Patrick, and I showed up.

Andrea went to visit Mom in the morning and took her a Valentine card. The staff gave her the big heart.

I had a dental appointment in the morning. Andrea cooked a fabulous dinner of rack of lamb in the evening.

Becky's Visit

On Tuesday, February 15, Becky flew in to HNL. Andrea and I met her at the airport.

Dinner at Roy's in Hawaii Kai

On Thursday, February 17, Andrea and I took Becky to dinner at Roy's, one of our favorite restaurants.

We had cocktails: mai tai, cosmopolitan, and Manhattan.


We stayed with the small plates to share. Delicious all evening.


Friday morning Becky and I went to the beach. I took this photo of Becky in Kapiolani Park on the way back to the car.

Oahu County Democratic Party Meeting

On Saturday, February 19, Andrea and I attended the Zoom meeting for Oahu County chaired by Lorna Strand. It was a special meeting to approve officers as county convention delegates and committee members.


The meeting was called to order at 10:00 AM.


Saturday evening we had cocktails on the lanai while Becky and I barbecued lamb.


Sunday morning Becky and I went to the beach for a swim.

Sunday morning, February 20, Becky helped me photograph two bonsai, the final pictures for my upcoming book, Bonsai Hawaiian Style.

Waikiki Aquarium

Tuesday morning, February 22, Becky and I went to the Waikiki Aquarium when they opened at 9:00 AM and then went for a swim at the beach.

Sunset Seminar at the Kahala Hotel

Friday evening, February 25, I took Bill and Becky to the Sunset Seminar at the Kahala Hotel. Andrea stayed home with a sore leg.


Thursday night Andrea and I had training for convention delegates.

The talk was on bioluminescence by Tom, a UH PhD candidate.


Afterwards we had zombies and dinner at the Plumeria Beachhouse.

Backyard Dinner Party

Saturday evening, February 26, Paul and Faye and John and Susan came over for a dinner party. We played bocce on the back lawn.


Saturday morning we went to the Kalaniiki park with Amanda, Bert Kobayashi, Mark Hashem, and Stanley Chang to make a video for Region
One to show at the county convention coming up on Zoom. Both Bill and Becky recorded video.

Sunday afternoon, February 27, I joined the monthly philosophy discussion put on by Brian Gould via Zoom.
