Red Hibiscus Bonsai

The red hibiscus bonsai has been growing wild for about a year and it's time to give it a good pruning. Saturday, Novemeber 14.

It's had a place in the sun, on the left, on the white glass table.

I moved it to the glass table under the lychee tree for the pruning work.

I first cut off all the flowers and put them into a champagne flute. Hibiscus flowers last only one day.

After pruning, I painted the trunk shari with lime sulfur and added more soil to the pot. Lime sulfur bleaches the deadwood and prevents rot.
