May 2020 Journal Photos

May Day is Lei Day

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii, but due to the continuing COVID-19 precautions, there is no celebration in Kapiolani Park this year, so people are asked to put a lei on their mailboxes.

We picked plumeria flowers last night and Andrea made a lei to put on the mailbox.

Malia sent a photo of the grandkids with the box we sent.

Today my temperature is 98.7 F and my weight is 207.4 lb, after exercise and running, but before my shower.

Coffee Zoom Meeting with Manoa Heritage Center

I did this screen grab during the meeting.

This screen shot was sent by Margo later.

Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May, the 10th this year.

Becky sent two boxes of chocolates, one for Lenore, so Andrea took it to her, and Julie sent a photo of her with the gift.

Sans Souci Beach

We decided to go to the beach for a swim, the first time in over a month, on Monday afternoon, May 11.

When we got there at 3:00 PM people were sitting on the beach in violation of the emergency orders.

The aquarium was closed. It would be a good time to remove the large rectangle of plastic "grass" and reseed.

I was able to do seven pull-ups and seven bar-dips. On the way back I took this photo of the whole Sans Souci Beach. Sitting on
park benches isn't allowed either.

The Hau Tree Lanai at the Kaimana Hotel is boarded up to discourage trespassers. Andrea is looking good today as always.

We went back to the beach on Tuesday morning and swam and exercised. There were four police cars there when we left.

While cleaning this morning, Andrea found a couple of ashtrays with seagulls.

Sans Souci Beach

Tuesday, May 19, T = 97.5 F. We decided to go for a swim in the morning.

Wednesday, May 20, T = 97.6 F.

Thursday, May 21, T = 98.3 F. W = 205.2. Stopping the sildenafil today. Slight headache still in the morning. In preparation for the laproscopic prostate surgery coming up next Wednesday, the 27th, I had my last aspirin and vitamin pill on Wednesday the 13th. Last alcohol on Friday the 15th. Last coffee on Saturday the 16th. I took tylenol for the last three days for the head and body aches that started Monday, the 18th. Yesterday I took an ibuprofin in the morning and at bedtime for the leg aches that were excruciating and tylenol wasn't doing it. I slept well, took two tylenol at midnight, and felt better this morning. I took one tylenol for a residual headache. My intent is to cut out all drugs from this point on. I assume the head and body aches will not return without the sildenafil.

Memorial Day Weekend

I started flying the flag daily on Friday, May 22nd. My temperature is 97.9 F.

I put the flag up Friday morning. I don't have a spotlight on it, so I will take it down in the evenings.

Andrea and I went to Queen's Urgent Care Friday morning in Kapahulu for my COVID-19 test before surgery next Wednseday. They should
let us know the result in 24 hours. No symptoms and temperature normal, so it's very unlikely I am infected.

Later Friday moring Andrea had a Google meet chat with Becky.

Saturday, May 23rd, T = 97.8, W = 203.8. The result of yesterday's COVID-19 test came back negative.

Ready to eat. It was delicious.

Friday morning: T = 99.2 F at 6:00 AM. T = 98.1 F at 9:00 AM.

Home Improvement

Andrea worked on the paper floor while I was at Queen's medical center for the prostatectomy and appendectomy. She made some nice designs on the paper with a felt marker, and then put down the new floor where my office chair wheels had worn holes in the old floor.

Friday morning Andrea painted the inner sliding glass doors.

Friday T = 98.0 F at 11:35 AM.

Saturday T = 98.8 at 6:00 AM. First bowel movement, runny.
