Fourth of July Weekend
Independence Day, the Fourth of July, fell on a Saturday this year, so the work day off was Friday the third.

On Wednesday, July 1, Andrea drove me to Dr. Ellison in POB2 at Queen's for MOHS surgery on the bridge of my nose to excise a
small squamous cell growth. The bandage can come off on Friday, and I go back to get the stitches out next Wednesday.
I put the flag up the morning of July 3rd. Click the image for the full resolution version.
Saturday morning Andrea called Uncle Bob on his birthday, 100 years old, born on the 4th of July. Here he Skypes with Mom.
Sunday, July 5th, I downloaded this image from Facebook.
Bonsai Shelf Refurbishment
The suspended bonsai shelf on the back wall broke overnight and I spent a couple of days refurbishing it. Fortunately, none
of the pots broke when it fell, but I'm having to repot all the bonsai. Many of them needed it anyway.

Recommended film (by Annie Korzen on July 8), Call my Agent on Netflicks, as soon as we finish the Hercule Poirot series on BritBox.
Coronavirus deaths in the USA as of July 9. We appear to be headed toward a sharp increase to match the new cases, lagging by three weeks.
Saturday, July 11, temperature = 98.1 F at 5:00 AM. Andrea and I had both gotten our shingles booster shots the day before and had sore arms.

After lunch on Sunday Andrea participated in a Zoom meeting using her new laptop. Helping to get a North Carolina Democrat elected
to Congress.
Monday I was back up to a full workout after a brief hiatus for prostate surgery and ramping up. I worked for the first time since then
with the 80 pound bar (presses and curls). Before it was the 45 pound bar maximum. In the twilight I took this photo of the bonsai bench.
Tuesday morning I converted a two-page PDF to JPEG for Andrea using Paintshop Pro.

Three weeks after the Tulsa rally, covid cases are on the rise in Oklahoma. Can we resist saying "told you so"?
Three weeks later, the poinsettia bonsai is covered in new growth.
Brunch at the Kaimana
Thursday morning, July 16, we went for a swim at Sans Souci Beach and then went to the Hau Tree Lanai at the Kaimana Hotel for
brunch with a 10:00 AM reservation.
After our swim, I did my pull-ups and bar dips and then walked down to the Sans Souci Apartments to see the monk seal.

Ceramic Bell Wind Chime Repair
Malia made a ceramic bell wind chime when she was in elementary school and we had it hanging up outside the kitchen. After all
these years, the natural fiber cord finally failed, so I repaired it with new blue nylon cord on Monday, July 20.

The top had been retied before and the fiber cord was entirely worn out.
All repaired with blue nylon cord.
Sans Souci Beach
On Teusday afternoon, July 21, Andrea and I decided to go to the beach for a swim. After we swam, a monk seal came right up on the
beach and drove Andrea back while I was doing my pull-ups and bar-dips at the Natatorium.
I saw people gathered to look at the monk seal as I walked back along the beach.

Later, Vince was Best Man at our wedding.
Hurricane Douglas
The fourth named storm, Douglas, became the first Hurricane of the season, and is on track for a direct hit on Oahu as a category 1
hurricane on Sunday, as of Saturday morning, July 25.
Friday morning I bought some 3/8 inch plywood and cut and drilled three new storm shutters Friday afternoon. I painted them Saturday morning.

Making Marmalade
Having read about it online, Andrea decided to make some orange marmalade, so she started a batch on Thursday morning, July 30.
July 30, Marketwatch.com, the inevitable GDP shrinkage due to Trump's mishandling of the crisis. It's getting hard to resist saying
