Becky's Visit

Becky arrived from Connecticut via New York Tuesday afternoon, January 21.

Manoa Heritage Center and Mission Houses Tours

I had both Manoa Heritage Center and Mission Houses tours on Wednesday morning, January 22. I had a group of fourth graders at Manoa Heritage Center, and eight adults at the Mission Houses. I didn't take a photo at the Mission Houses, but the visitors were from Canada, Washington DC, Saint Louis Missouri, and local.

In the afternoon Andrea and I took Becky to the beach and after our swim we did some pull-ups.

Bonsai Display at Natsunoya Tea House

Rainbow Bonsai Club agreed to provide a small display of bonsai at the Natsunoya Tea House on Thursday evening, January 23, for a financial organization's New Year party. Six club members participated.

Thursday morning Becky and I went for a swim while Andrea went to a doctor's appointment. Then we did pull-ups and bar dips and looked for fish.


City workers were repairing the barrier wall at the Natatorium.


Later Thursday morning Bill flew his quadrotor (drone) while Becky watched.

I set up my tree, a moyogi kiawe with mountain viewing stone, when we arrived at the Natsunoya Tea House and moved it more to the right later.

After setting up the bonsai display, we were greeted by David.


John set up a demonstration table and we had four donated trees for the raffle after dinner.


After Ryan brought his large banyan tree, we had four bonsai in the main display.

Chinese New Year's Eve

The new moon occurred Friday, January 24, just before noon. The first full day of the Year of the Rat is Saturday, January 25.

Friday evening, Becky and I went to robotics where she talked about her experiences at Beach Cities Robotics (FRC 294) at the daily meeting.

Lenore's Birthday Party

Chinese New Year's Day fell on Lenore's birthday this year, Saturday, January 25. She's 95 today.

Chinese New Year in Waikiki

Saturday evening we went to Waikiki to have cocktails and pupu at the Moana Hotel.

FRC Build Season Week Four

Monday

Monday the team met for regular week night work at 5:00 PM.


We went to the beach and we saw a humuhumunukunukuapuaa.


Daily team meeting. We are behind schedule.


I taught Becky how to make mai tais earlier and she made some for dinner.


We had her favorite dinner (teryaki steak and broccoli) under the lychee tree.

Tuesday

Tuesday was Becky's last day of her vacation in Hawaii.


We got up early and had breakfast at Jack's. Bill and Xitlali had already left for the airport when we got up.

We walked behind the Aquarium looking for fish.


The sand is returning to the beach at the Sans Souci Apartments. Two of the three palm trees are completely filled in now.
