December 2020 Journal Photos
Leaf Service at New City Nissan
Andrea drove her Leaf to New City Nissan on Tuesday morning, December 1. On the way there, the "low tire pressure" light came on.
After my morning exercise I ran down to the Hind Drive bridge to take pictures. Click the image to see the full resolution version.
I think they will be at the bridge in about two more weeks.
Wednesday morning Andrea photographed our michiko hibiscus in bloom.
Christmas Decorations
I painted some terra cotta pots green, put them together, and attached snowflakes to make a simulated Christmas tree on Thursday.
My shohin Brazilian pepper bonsai.
Thursday is cement day in the stream.
All done on Thursday, December 3.
Neighbor Jolene gave us the poinsettia.
Andrea put up the icicle lights.
At night.
Friday, December 4, the fourth straight morning with nothing in the rain gage. I took two photos of the wall building down by the
bridge, but deleted them both due to poor quality (one blurry, one with sun on the lens).
This is Andrea's photo of the stream Friday morning, taken on her walk.
Monday, December 7 (Pearl Harbor Day), the decorating continued.
Ornaments hung on trees outside and Andrea did the front window with lights around the inside, snowflake stickers, and Snoopy in the center.

Andrea put an unknown number of M and Ms into a 36 ounce jar for the guessing game for the Aina Haina Prepared zoom event coming up.
I came across this photo of Joe Biden at the Corinthian Baptist Church prayer meeting in January 2020.
On Wednesday I wrapped Ku and charged the menorah.
I came across this meme on Facebook on Thursday the tenth.
Friday we went shopping for a Christmas tree. Andrea found this one on Beretania.
Decorated! Photo by Andrea on Saturday the 12th.
At dusk with lights on. Photo by Andrea on Saturday the 12th.
Sunday the 13th I photographed my deconstructed Jackson Pollock, painted dowels on painted wood.
Lenore at Care Home
Andrea visited Lenore at her care home on Thursday, December 17.
Andrea was able to go inside and photograph Lenore's room Thursday.
Aina Haina Prepared
Andrea visited Lenore at her care home on Saturday, December 19, while I went down to the lower parking lot at Aina Haina Elementary
School to drop off the prize M and M jar with Danny who was there to distribute the prizes from the end-of-the-year Zoom meeting.
I made a humerous
questionaire (text file)
for self-evaluation on the Trumpy scale.
Danny had a large tent as a grand prize and lots of MREs for anyone who wanted them. There was some kind of native Hawaiian protest
convoy forming up in the parking lot when I got there. Click the image to see the full resolution verion.

Cornoavirus Pandemic
Winter solstice, Monday, December 21, 2020: the USA leads the world in the coronavirus pandemic.
From the NY Times on the winter solstice.
In the evening on the solstice, Andrea and I went outside and saw this conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. Telescopic photo from Facebook.
Tuesday the 22nd I attended the Manoa Heritage Center holiday zoom party while Andrea visited Lenore in the care home.
Wailupe Stream
The final work on the stream bank reinforcement is done before the end of the year.
Andrea and I walked down to the Hind Drive bridge to take a look after lunch on Wednesday, December 23. The cementing crew are waiting
for a delay in the cement pumper. This should finish the major work.
Manoa Heritage Center on Christmas Eve
Andrea gave a tour at Manoa Heritage Center and I tagged along on Thursday morning, December 24.

Andrea conducted the tour for the two guests.
It had rained earlier but was sunny for the whole hour-plus tour.
In the afternoon we drove out to look at Makapuu. Tradewinds were increasing after two days without.
Visit with Lenore on Christmas Day
Andrea and I went to visit Mom in the care home on Friday morning, December 25.
We had to put on plastic gowns and gloves. Becky Skyped in, but Lenore mostly dozed.
Afterward I walked up 12th Avenue a hundred yards or so and photographed Diamond Head.
Sunday morning we walked to the Hind Drive bridge to photograph the stream. Andrea continued her walk up the valley while I walked home.
Monday morning we received a Christmas card from Robert and Michelle, designed by Michelle.
New Year's Eve
Andrea and I stayed home, of course, due to the Covid-19 lockdown. The Youngs did not have a big party as they usually do, but
family came to roast a pig.
Zack fans the fire with a cardboard box while his dad Carl and cousin Bronson look on.

The pig is roasting.
We had a Zoom meeting with cousin Michael, Uncle Bill, Auntie Janice, Eric and Becky, and Katherine and Thomas.
