Rainbow Bonsai Club at Walk on the Wild Side

Andrea and I attended the street art fair benefit for the American Kidney Foundation in China Town on Saturday, March 23. Rainbow Bonsai Club had 30 feet of curb space, enough for three standard canopies, but we used just two, putting the bonsai display tables in the open air between them. Rainbow Bonsai Club particpated in the event last year too. We met John, Joanie, Rocky, Chris, and Hugo at 9:00 AM for setup and John, Joanie, Andrea and I stayed through teardown at 4:00 PM.

Our setup location on Bethel Street just mauka of Hotel Street.

The art fair wrapped around to Fort Street Mall at Pauahi Street where some lion dancers prepare to perform.

A new city Art Museum opened today. These are some interesting ceramic pieces.

I brought several bonsai to work on for demonstration.

The lion dancers came down our way. Feeding the red lion. Photo by Andrea, who also made two videos of the lion dance.

The lions by the shave ice truck. The little boy with the cymbals is one of the musicians accompanying the lion dancers.

The punk rock band Stink Eye performed in the park. The guitarist had a Gibson Les Paul and the bassist played a Fender bass.
