White Black 1. Nf3 e6 2. c4 Nc6 The knight at f3 and pawn at c4 are characteristic of Reti's system. Black's knight to c6 takes us out of the book. 3. d4 Bb4+ 4. Nc3 Nf6 5. Qc2 O-O White's queen move keeps the black knight off e4 and prepares pawn to e4.
6. e4 d6 Black's d6 is insufficient to prevent white's advance in the center. 7. e5 dxe5 8. dxe5 Nd7 Ng4 might be better for black. 9. Bf4 Qe7 10. Bd3 h5 White has an easy expansion. Black saves his rook pawn.
11. O-O Rb8 Black's rook move is not a "mistake," but there are better things to do here. 12. Rf1e1 Kh8 13. Bg5 Qe8 14. a3 Be7 15. Qd2 Nc5 Black begins a knight expedition on the queen side.
16. Bc2 Na5 17. Qe2 Na5b3 18. Ra1d1 f6 19. exf6 gxf6 20. Bf4 Rg8 Black's pawn at c7 cannot be defended. If e4, then white's knight sacrifice leads to checkmate.
21. Bxc7 Ra8 22. Kh1 Na6 White makes a prophylactic king move, getting it off black's half open file. 23. Bg3 Na6c5 24. Ne4 Kg7 25. Nxc5 Nxc5
26. b4 Na4 27. Qd3 Nb2 28. Qh7+ Kf8 Black's knight expedition on the queen side is over. 29. Rd4 e5? Black's pawn advance to e5 is a mistake that loses the queen. 30. Nxe5 fxe5
31. Bxe5 Qf7 32. Rf4 Be6 33. Rxf7+ Bxf7 It's all over but the mopping-up. 34. Qh6+ Ke8 35. Bxb2 Kd7
36. Bf5+ Kd8 37. Rd1+ Ke8 38. Bd7+ Kd8 39. Bf6 a6 40. Bxe7+ Kxe7
41. Qd6+ Kd8 42. Qf6+ Kc7 43. Qxf7 Rh8 44. Bg4+ Kb8 45. Qf4+ Ka7
46. Qd4+ b6 47. Qg7+ Black resigns. Checkmate is seen ahead.
