July 5th I photographed this orchid I had brought in a couple of days ago.
In the afternoon we went to the beach and saw Kaiiwi sleeping on the beach.
On Friday morning Andrea went to Mom's care home for her interview with Hawaii News Now about the Women's Campus Club Thrift Shop history.

After the bingo, club founder Mike demonstrated air layering on a prostrata juniper.
Three of the four cascade branches were air layered.
Wet spagnum moss was wrapped around the girdled branch, wrapped with plastic, and tied with wire.

Monday morning I wired up the trunks for the nana junipers and gave them a good dose of Miracle Grow.
Monday afternoon I went to the beach while Andrea attended her first conversational Hawaiian class at UH.
In the afternoon we went to the beach.
We drove the short distance and parked in the parking lot above the church and walked down to it.
Danny brought certificates of appreciation for several volunteers. This is Andrea's. I got mine a few days later.
Wednesday afternoon we went to the beach.
A Hawaiian trio was playing in the foyer.

Friday afternoon we went to the beach and I saw them shooting Hawaii Five-O, season nine, episode one, to appear in September.
The extras walked toward me as the shooting commenced.
As we got home, Danny drove up and gave me my certificate of appreciation from Governor Ige.

The Manoa Valley Theater production was held at Kaimuki High School due to the large cast and over 1,000 seat capacity of the Auditorium.
The stage set. No curtain was used. The play was a fairy tale in and about Hawaiian Pidgin.
Afterward we went for pupu and cocktails at the Kaimana Hotel at Sans Souci Beach.
Anthony gave a plant tour at 11:00 to noon.
In the afternoon I went to the beach and saw Kaiiwi, the monk seal, while Andrea took Adele to their olelo o Hawaii class at OLLI.
We arrived early and Danny had already set up.
Red Cross volunteer Janice gave the talk.
We arrived about 45 minutes before showtime at 7:30.
There was a fairly elaborate set.
Everyone had a good time.
Sunday morning I worked on the hibiscus bonsai that Faye helped with last winter.
After unwiring, pruning, and partial defoiliation.
Andrea took Mom her wedding invitation and mail-in ballot.
After lunch and a nap we went to Diamond Head to look at the big surf.

I went to the beach while Andrea and Adele went to their Hawaiian language class. Kaiiwi slept on the beach by the lifeguard's surf board.
There is a concrete dam with two weirs forming the debris basin near the top of Hind Iuka.

Thursday morning, before we went for our haircuts, Andrea photographed the lauhala bracelet she had made during Wednesday's class.

The crowd was about a thousand people.
Larry Flannigan (Hapa), Rovi, and John Cruz performed first, followed by Streetlight Cadence.
Shannon and Mele, MCs, performed hula.
The evening remained dry with a full moon rising to the right of the stage and stars coming out.
Friday Andrea and I went to the beach and I saw a white Studebaker Avanti pull into a parking place.
The Avanti is from the 1960s and is supercharged. It's the only production car I know that has an actual supercharger (not turbocharged).
