Andrea and I went to the beach for a swim on Wednesday afternoon, October 7th.

In the morning I took this photo of the mostly assembled mini-library.

I saw a monk seal lying on the beach in front of the Sans Souci Apartments. This was my Mom's favorite beach.

Lenore, as President of the Aina Haina Library Friends, received this certificate of appreciation.

On Thursday we saw two monk seals.

Norma Carr gives her award acceptance speech.

We had a fairly good turnout.

Gregg and Norma pose for photos. Next the Army Corps of Engineers gave status on the stream "improvements:" No go. The benefit to cost
ratio is 0.89, so now they are looking at a scaled down project.

State Archives Tour

Andrea and I joined other Manoa Heritage Center staff, board members, and docents for the State archives tour on Friday Morning, October 23rd.

First we went to the old building, no longer used for archives. It was the first special-built archives building in the USA.

We weren't the first to get there.

The entry to the archives building has a good view of Iolani Palace.

I got this photo of the palace fort and then walked through it.

Coming back is a good view of the capitol.

The bronze state seal at the door of the archives.

It's about what you would expect on the second floor: shelves and boxes.

FTC Tournament at Iolani High School

In the afternoon I coached the Kalani Robotics team for the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) tournament at Iolani High School.

It took a lot of work to get the robot ready for competition.

Lots of seating available in Seto Hall at Iolani.

Some Punahou students came over to help us.

We missed only one match, the first one. Here we're on the field and ready to play.

The event was exciting.

On the blue alliance for this match.

Go Kalani!

Everyone had a great time.
