Week Four February 2015 Journal Photos

Sun in the Morning

Tuesday morning Andrea did her crossword puzzle as usual with bright sunlight streaming in the front room.

A sunny morning and crossword puzzle.

Wednesday, the 25th, there was mist in the upper valley in the afternoon. Photo by Andrea.

Sans Souci Beach

We went to the beach every afternoon and on Wednesday, the 25th, we saw some film production company, presumably Hawaii Five Oh, shooting there in the beach park.

This is the scene we saw as we approached the beach park from parking on Kalakaua Avenue accross from Russel Convenience.

As I walked to do my daily exercises I passed this scene and was told to get out of the frame. Click the image to see the full
resolution version. It's all about the framing.

This is the scene when I was walking back from doing my daily 10 pull-ups and 12 bar dips.

Naomi Klein at the University of Hawaii

Naomi Klein gave a talk in the ballroom at the Campus Center on Thursday, the 26th. The ballroom seats 500 and it was filled with overflow seating for video in the art building auditorium. We bought a copy of her latest book, This Changes Everything, from the campus book store before the talk.

We arrived on campus a bit early so we walked around. Andrea took this picture of a mural over the door to the chemistry
building (Bilger Hall) lecture hall where I took Chemistry 105 back in 1978.

There was standing room only.

Tina, who organized the talk, presents Naomi with a lei.

Afterward we had duck corn dogs, minestrone soup, and chardonnay wine at bar at the 12th Avenue Grill.

The next day, Friday, we went to the beach.

Rain was threatening so they put up a big canopy at the Aquarium for the luau.
