I went to the beach today, Monday, and took this picture of the banyan tree next to the Aquarium. The sign on the tree

Manoa Heritage Center
On Thursday, October 10th, Andrea and I volunteered to help at an event at the Manoa Heritage Center.
Andrea helped at the reception table while I helped with the valet parking.
On Friday we went to the beach in the afternoon. The monk seal was back.
Toxic Avenger
Andrea got us tickets at the last minute to Toxic Avenger, a musical at the Manoa Valley Theater, on Saturday,
October 12th, for the show at 8:00 PM.

Turandot
Andrea and I went with Lenore and Janice to Puccini's opera Turandot at the Neal Blaisdel Auditorium on Sunday,
October 13th, for the show at 4:00 PM. We went early and attended the pre-show lecture outside.

Project Lead the Way
Andrea and I have been advising Ed Dennis on his Project Lead the Way (and educational private initiative), and met
with him on Tuesday, October 15th, while he's here for and educational conference, at the Ala Moana Hotel.
We had Lego League as usual on Tuesday.
Then we went to the beach.

We added Wednesdays to Lego League because it's getting close to the November tournament and we have lots to do.

Malama Maunalua Priory Huki
Andrea and I helped with the Malama Maunalua Paiko Beach huki on Friday, October 18th. Two busloads of
students from Saint Andrew's Priory, an all girls' school from which Andrea graduated in 1972, arrived to help
pull the invasive limu (sea weed).
We lined up the tabis (water boots) by size for the students before they arrived.
The busses arrived 15 minutes early (8:45 AM).

The students were quite attentive.

Trellis
I made a trellis after Lego League on Saturday afternoon, October 19th.
Haole koa branches are screwed to a bamboo pole with number eight flathead brass wood screws.
The finished trellis is similar to the one made a few weeks earlier.
Cabaret
Andrea and I went to see Cabaret at the Diamond Head Theater on Sunday, October 19th.
We had breakfast at Big City Diner because Judy was coming to clean the house in the morning.

We walked to the rug store on Ward Avenue and waited for them to open by walking further east.

Walking back toward the rug store we saw this night club, Cafe Duck Butt, hours 5 PM to 2 AM.
We bought a circular rug at the rug store on Ward Avenue and brought it home for the den.
We parked across the street at KCC and saw the last performance of Cabaret at Diamond Head Theater.
After a great performance (the choreography, dancing, and singing were fantastic) we went to Golden Duck for dinner.

Lego League
Coaching Lego League continued. We met again on Tuesday, October 22nd.
Students narrowed the design down to one type and worked to convert two robots to that design for parallel mission work.

Hokulea at Hawaii Kai Towne Centre
Andrea fixed a lunch of pulled pork sandwiches and fruit salad for the Hokulea crew and we brought it to them where
the ship was docked at the Towne Centre in Hawaii Kai on Friday, October 25th.

Rainbow Wahine Basketball
Andrea and I met several members of the WCC at the Stan Sheriff Center for the Rainbow Wahine basketball game
against the Hilo Vulcans on Wednesday, October 30th.
On Tuesday two Lego League team members worked on the robot design executive summary.
We sat together on the far side as usual.
The Rainbow Wahine won 70 to 35 in this free exhibition game.
Halloween
Andrea and I carved some Jack-o-lanterns on Halloween, Thursday, October 31st.
