We went to a Hawaiian antique store, Mauna Kea Galleries, on King Street and got a slip cast mug.

Sunday morning, August 11th, I prepared to varnish the three wood sculptures we bought at Peggy's Picks
on Kapahulu Blvd. on Saturday.

Sunday evening we went to DK Steakhouse in Waikiki for dinner. The red umbrellas in the background are at Tiki's Grill
and Bar, the last remaining tiki bar in Waikiki.

On Tuesday we met with the Lego League students. We paired the continuing students with the new students.
The veterans taught the newbies Lego Mindstorms programming.
Coach Mike has a granddaughter at NVMS (but not in robotics) and he volunteered to help.

Later we went down to the stream behind the house and I cleared branches from the stream while Andrea heaved rocks to build
up the bank.
On the way up to Hao Street we saw that the front loader had broken down in the stream. It was there two nights, leaking oil.
We met at the top of Hao Street in Aina Haina.
Jason gives an overview of the work to protect the elepaio (endangered native bird found only on Oahu).
We paused several times to make sure we kept together. Jason kept a fairly fast pace.
We went up to the Cook Island pine grove.
At the elepaio sanctuary. A pig fence encloses about seven acres.
On the way back we paused at a koa tree.
That evening (Thursday) we had pupu and cocktails at a new restaurant called Park. It has windows facing Kapiolani Park.
It's in the space upstairs in the Lotus hotel formerly occupied by Diamond Head Grill.

We went to the farmers market in the International Marketplace and got some coconut peanut butter for Becky.
Thomas sent me this wooden gladius. The package was waiting for us when we got home from Park and I opened it in the morning.
On Friday we went to the Kalani Robotics lab to help with VEX.
