AHCA board member Anson Rego praised outgoing State House Representative Barbara Marumoto.
The AHCA awarded a plaque and leis to the board of the Friends of Aina Haina Library for their work with the legislature in getting
a new law passed to make it easier for local libraries to raise funds. Lenore (Andrea's mother) is the President.
The first candidates up were Jeremy Low (R) and Mark Hashem (D), incumbent, State House District 18.
Next were Sam Slom (R), incumbent, State Senate District 9, and Democratic challenger Kurt Lajala. The "j" in his name is pronounced
like an "i". It's Finnish.
Last up were candidates for Prosecutor, incumbent Mr. Kaneshiro and challenger Mr. Takata.
The next morning, Thursday, October 4th, Andrea worked in the garden.

A VEX robotics match is underway on field 2. I was honored to be asked to MC for the morning matches. Kalani Robotics team G is on the

We were at the parking lot at the park at the valley trail head before 10:00 AM.

I waited on a rock at a bridge for the slowpokes to catch up.

On the way down one of the firefighters offered the three tired ones a ride.
We went to the Moanalua golf course restaurant for lunch. Can you spot me in the mirror taking the picture? Andrea, Mary, Marie,

That evening we went to Gyotacu for dinner.
We have our wine and have made up our minds on what to order.
A free chili and rice dinner was served with over 200 people attending.
I don't usually take pictures of flowers, but I grew these orchids myself.
Same with these orchids.
The boys' team (3008 A) also modifies their robot.
Later in the afternoon I went to the beach. It was a very quiet afternoon at Sans Souci Beach.
At 5:30 PM we went down to the shopping center for the dinner. Here people sign in for the political event.
Mark greeted us when we arrived.
The place was packed, and the food was good too.

A number of kupuna (elders) from Lunalilo Home came to lend support as well.
We were joined by seniors from Kamehmeah High School.
The volunteers head out into the water to pull the invasive limu (mudweed).
The limu is taken to shore in sacks and then composted to make garden fertilizer.

That evening we attended the NVMS prospective students and parents night where the team demonstrated Lego robotics.
The next morning we drove to Kailua for breakfast at Cinnamon's. Then we went to a nursery to buy native plants.
Commercial activity at the Natatorium War Memorial is just about daily. Friday, October 19th.
Retiring State House Representative Barbara Muramoto was awarded a flag that had flown at the National Capitol.
A Hawaiian blessing was part of the ceremony.
There was a good turnout with cake and manapua.

Saturday afternoon Simina came a little early and helped prepare food.
Andrea worked hard in the kitchen getting food ready.

We arrived a little before noon and other guests were already there.
We had some beers in the lanai tiki bar.
The party was in two phases. This is the lunch time phase. Phase two will be in the evening.
Then we moved inside for a prank cake (frosted balloon).
Horan stuck the knife straight in.
Some of the guests departed by canoe.
A former student, now in South Carolina, called with birthday wishes.
For dessert, Horan was served two mounds of ice cream.
