Waiting for Mike and Patricia to arrive.

A patron at the bar took this photo of the six of us.

Helicopter Activity in Wailupe Valley

We noticed some hovering activity by a black helicopter in the valley above the houses in the east.

The helicopter let down an orange strap and flew away with this. It was later reported to be police "weeding."
After dropping off its payload near the stream further up the valley, the helicopter flew away directly over
our house.

Design International

Andrea and I went to design international on Thursday, September 8th, to show Glenda the bathroom sink glass bowl we purchased at Lowe's. We also reviewed and corrected the kitchen layout.

Designs and analyses are in progress.

Hawaii Five-0 Premier

On Saturday, September 10th, Andrea and I went to Waikiki to look at the gathering for the Hawaii Five-0 second season premier, projected on the big screen at Kuhio Beach.

It was a beautiful afternoon in Waikiki with bigger than usual surf. Taken by the surfer sculpture at Kuhio Beach.

We had planned to explore the Hyatt hotel, but strikers were demonstrating outside. Naturally, we didn't go in.

Andrea took this picture from the jetty looking at the event setup.

A band called HAPA was playing on the stage with the big screen.

There was standing room only at this free event.

Tenth Anniversary of 9-11

We flew the flag on Sunday, September 11th, for the 9-11 tenth anniversary observance.

Flag, Mom, and apple pie.

Morning Rainbow

We got up early on Tuesday, September 13th, and saw a great double rainbow completely across the morning sky.

Blue on the inside, red on the outside.

Bob McGlone and I played tennis around noon with Ron and Anne. We won 9-7.

Sans Souci Beach

I went to the beach by myself at 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 15th, after stopping at the Church of the Crossroads, while Andrea stayed home to fix dinner so we could go to Liholiho Elementary school that evening to support Art Kimura's BrushBots workshop with the Kalani High School robotics team.

Lovely Andrea watches the goings on.

Petras Karuza of Aerospace Corporation had a stop-over at Honolulu International Airport (HNL)
on his way from Kauai back to California, so he stopped by the Hooponopono lab to talk about his
work with a picosat that has four solid fuel rockets for delta-V.

Petras and I chatted for a while about picosats.

Students gave Petras a tour of the lab.

Petras provided a number of great tips based on his experience with Aerospace Corporation hardware programs.

Cheers! Great Tanquerey martinis.

We had a great meal sharing the Grand Sampler pupu selection.

Maintenance

Saturday, September 24th was a maintenance day.

I cut a haole koa tree on the side of the stream and beautiful Andrea went down to cut some branches off.

Andrea borrowed a ratchet lopper from Betty next door and tears into the branches.

Amazing Andrea!

Breakfast at Duke's

Sunday morning, September 25th we went out to breakfast and spent some time in Waikiki.

Duke's at the Outrigger Hotel has a second floor view of the beach, but we were fairly far back.

Later we sat in the rockers on the lanai of the Moana Hotel. I read the Sunday paper and Andrea worked the crossword puzzle.

We stopped at the Artfest at the Ewa corner of Kapiolani Park and bought some T-shirts for the Horans.

We visited for a time with our favorite artist, Paul Forney, at the Zoo Art Fence.

Phantom of the Opera

Sunday afternoon, September 25th Andrea, Lenore, and I picked up Estelle and Maile and went to see Phantom of the Opera at the Pilaku Theater on the campus of Windward Community College in Kaneohe, meeting cousin Lynn, Carol, her daughter Julie, and her two kids Mia and Miles.

Andrea enjoys photographing the photographer. All dressed up and ready to go.
