Moana Hotel

We went to the Moana Hotel Saturday night, the 6th of February for drinks and music.

It being a few day's after Chinese New Year, some lions came and danced for us.

Visit with Horans

On Monday the 7th we went to Kaneohe to visit Claude and Suzi Horan.

Claude and Suzi are always gracious hosts.

We went for a hike in the rain to the secret waterfall. "No f**king tourists," Suzi said.

Lots of water on a rainy day. It's about an hour up the trail.

I think somebody gave them this fabric artwork.

After the hike, Suzi gave us bathrobes we wore while our clothes dried.

Trip to the Mainland

Andrea and I flew to the mainland on February 11 and returned on February 25. The house had sold so we went to clean it out. The second week we stayed at the Sea Sprite Motel in Hermosa Beach.

We shipped our two cats, Sammie and Tigger, via a quarantine ranch in Oregon.

We attended a meeting of Dai Ichi Bonsai Kai where Mel Ikeda gave a demonstration of shohin using a procumbens nana juniper.

We visited the twice and current world champion robotics team, Beach Cities Robotics, on both weekends
to see their progress in this build season.

BCR built two robots again this year, one for practice after the competition robot ships.

We had to eat at MamaD's restaurant because of the Ted Lieu sign. Ted won the election for State
Senate (District 28). Good food.

We took walks in Hermosa Beach and surrounds. Here's a nice art deco building on Valley-Ardmore.

We visited Bob and Pat Hosken in their home.

We visited King Harbor in Redondo Beach. Here I'm helping three German-speaking Europeans with a picture.

We visited champion swimmer and coach John York, who is recovering from heart surgery.

Getting a little stormy the day we left.

We met Kevin Ryan at the Catalina Coffee Company.

Kevin and I traded coats. He got my leather jacket and gave me his Northrop Grumman black windbreaker.

Back in Hawaii

Box jellyfish were swarming Saturday and Sunday after we returned. However, we went down to the beach on Monday. The lifeguard said there were only one or two in the morning so he took down the jellyfish signs. I went for a swim in very uncrowded water. Lightweights leave the beach when it rains I guess.
